Issue 3 Started

Started work on the layout for issue 3 yesterday. Think this will be a really great issue what with numerous articles and two, yes 2!, interviews.  Keep tuned.

I’ve Been Thinking…

I’ve been thinking about testing the waters and printing a hardcopy version of issue 3 and making it available for those who might prefer a hardcopy version of the zine as opposed to the downloadable PDF version.  Not sure what format it will be regarding size but we’ll see.

Exciting News!

We’ve got some exciting news to share with our readers.

I’m sure all of our readers will be excited to hear that we’ve lined up an interview with former Blake’s 7 script editor Chris Boucher that will appear in issue 3.  Chris will be talking about his work on both Doctor Who and Blake’s 7 as well as some of his other projects in the interview.

We’re excited by the news especially as this will be Star One’s first interview.

Issue 3 will be available early 2012.

Request for Articles, Art, etc

We’re in need of material for Issue 3 of the magazine.

You name it.  Articles, character analysis, episode reviews, artwork, etc.  Anything you’d like to contribute.  Maybe tell us about the time you met one of the cast members, or write up a report on the most recent Blake’s 7 convention you went to, or there’s an aspect of the television series you always wanted to write about.  Well here’s your chance.  Just drop us a quick email to let us know what you’re interested in writing on and we take it from there.

And in keeping with that, I’d like to tell you about the new reviews section of the zine.  It’s called “Sensornet” and this will be the part of the zine where we not only review new Blake’s 7 merchandise, but we’ll also be taking a look back and reappraising any of the older merchandise that’s been released in years gone by.  So if there’s a B7 book or specific audio that you’ve always wanted to review, but its been out for numerous years, now’s here’s your chance to offer your opinion on the item.  We’re open to reviews on any of the past merchandise from books, audios, dvds, annuals, fan productions, conventions, etc. Plus, once the new Big Finish audios and novels start being released, we’d very much be interested in featuring reviews on these products too.

Revamp

Speaking of issue 3, I’m going to be doing a bit of a revamp to the zine with this issue, especially now that we’ve got a brand new assistant editor.

This is where I’d like to ask you guys opinions and thoughts. What sort of stuff would you like to see in the zine? Any specifics, ideas?

Feel free to email me your thoughts.

News Update

Hi all.

Just a few bits of news and updates regarding“Star One”.

First off I would like to introduce you to “Star One’s” brand new Assistant Editor, Ewen Campion-Clarke.  Ewen is based in Australia and has been a major Blake’s 7 fan since he was three years old.  He’s had a fair amount of writing experience and will be helping me with the day to day running of the zine, editing articles, verifying information, etc, all of the normal things an Assistant Editor would be doing.  With me being a rather newbie fan, Ewen’s vast knowledge of the show will prove invaluable to me in putting together each issue of “Star One”.

The deadline for issue 3 has been set for November 30th, but don’t let that deter you from contributing.  I’m okay with delaying the issue if it means accommodating some really great material for publication.  Just put your pen to paper, fingers to keyboard, and then send it off to us for publication.

Cheers,

Bob & Ewen
